How to Use Portable Cells and the Cell Workbench

Portable storage

Craft 1k Portable Item Cell, 4k Portable Item Cell, 16k Portable Item Cell, 64k Portable Item Cell, or 256k Portable Item Cell to carry items in your inventory. Fluid versions are 1k Portable Fluid Cell through 256k Portable Fluid Cell. Right-click to open the cell and move items in or out, or place it in an ME Chest to expose its contents to the network.

Portable cells use the same ME Storage Component tiers as fixed cells: 1k ME Storage Component, 4k ME Storage Component, 16k ME Storage Component, 64k ME Storage Component, 256k ME Storage Component. A higher tier holds more types and more total items.

Partitioning with the Cell Workbench

Place a Cell Workbench and put a storage cell inside. Add items to the filter slots to partition the cell so it only accepts those items. This is how you dedicate a cell to one resource, such as a single ore or a single fluid, and prevent the network from filling it with junk.

Use ME IO Port to bulk-transfer between cells and the network. Insert a source cell and a target cell, then choose the direction. Combine partitioning on the Cell Workbench with IO Port transfers to keep specialized cells organized. Keep spare portable cells in your inventory for mining trips, then dump them into an ME Drive when you return.
