Understand Hunger vs Saturation Mechanics

What Hunger Does

Hunger points are your visible food bar. When you eat food, the hunger bar fills up. Once full at 10 points, you stop losing hunger temporarily. Different foods restore different amounts—some heal 1 point, others heal much more.

What Saturation Does

Saturation is invisible but crucial. It's a buffer that prevents your hunger from dropping. When saturation is high, your hunger bar stays full even while you sprint, jump, or take damage. Once saturation runs out, your hunger bar begins to deplete.

Key difference: Hunger is what you see; saturation is how long you stay satisfied.

Using This Knowledge

When the mod shows you both values, you can make strategic choices:

  • High hunger, low saturation = Quick energy but you'll get hungry soon
  • High hunger, high saturation = Best for long adventures
  • Low hunger, high saturation = Efficient for maintaining fullness

Read both stats before eating to plan your food consumption for your current activity.
