How to Cut and Socket Gems

Cutting Gems

Place a Gem Cutting Table and open it. Feed it Gem Dust to produce cut gems. Gem Dust is the raw material you get from processing gem sources, and the Gem Cutting Table is the only block that turns that dust into usable gems. Keep a stock of Gem Dust on hand before you start, because every cut consumes it.

Socketing Gems Into Gear

Use the Sigil of Socketing to open a socket on a piece of equipment. Once a socket exists, insert a cut gem into it to apply that gem's effect to the item. The Augmenting Table is where you manage augment and gem application on gear, so bring your socketed item there to finalize the setup.

Storing and Moving Gems

A Gem Case holds your cut gems in one place instead of scattering them across chests. The Gem Case of House Fabergé is the upgraded variant for larger or more valuable collections. Carry a case when you travel so you can swap gems without returning to base.

Recovering Materials

If you socketed the wrong gem or want to rework an item, the Salvaging Table breaks gear back down. Use it to reclaim materials from outdated equipment rather than discarding it.
