How to Add Sockets and Socket Gems into Armor and Weapons

Adding Sockets

Sockets are added to a piece of gear with a Sigil of Socketing. Apply the sigil to the item you want to modify. Each application opens socket space on that item, letting you insert gems afterward. Plan which pieces deserve sockets first — your main weapon and chest armor usually give the best return.

Inserting Gems

With sockets open, insert your cut gems into the item. The gem's stats are then applied to the gear while it is worn or held. Match gem type to the stat you want: offensive gems on weapons, defensive gems on armor.

Removing and Replacing Gems

Use a Sigil of Withdrawal to pull gems back out of a socketed item. This lets you recover gems from gear you are retiring and move them to a better piece. If you only want to clear the item entirely, the Sigil of Unnaming strips the item's name and modifications.

Workflow

1. Apply Sigil of Socketing to open sockets.

2. Insert cut gems.

3. Use Sigil of Withdrawal to recover gems later.

Keep spare Sigils of Socketing and Sigils of Withdrawal in your kit so you can resocket gear whenever you upgrade.
