Set Up Your First Paleontologist Villager

Craft and Place the Lab Table

Gather wood planks from any tree type in your world—oak, cherry, crimson, apricorn, or any other available wood works. Craft a Lab Table using these planks at your crafting table. Place the Lab Table in or near a village, ideally inside a house or shelter where an unemployed villager can access it.

Claim and Trade

Once claimed, the villager will transform into a Paleontologist, identifiable by their unique appearance. Open the trading menu by right-clicking the villager. You'll see their initial trades, which typically include basic digging tools like brushes and shovels, along with some machine parts and fossil options.

Level Up Your Paleontologist

Trade emeralds to complete transactions and increase the villager's experience level. As they level up, new trades unlock, including rarer machine parts and additional base fossil varieties. Higher-level Paleontologists offer better deals and access to fossils you won't find in lower-tier trades. Keep trading to unlock their full inventory and maximize your fossil collection options.
