Tame Your First Prehistoric Creature

Gather the Right Food

Each creature has a preferred diet. Identify which beast you want to tame, then collect its favorite food:

• Floraceratops: Melon blocks
• Pterohusher: Raw salmon or raw chicken
• Megacat: Raw beef, mutton, or porkchops
• PrimalSquid: Raw salmon (feed in water)
• Cryossaurus & Cryolodon: Raw or cooked meat

Taming Process

Approach the wild creature slowly with the food in your inventory. Feed it by right-clicking repeatedly until heart particles appear around it—this signals successful taming. The creature is now yours and will follow you.

Control Your Pet

Hold a regular wooden stick in your main hand and right-click your tamed companion to toggle between Follow Mode (pet trails behind you) and Stay Mode (pet remains in place). Check the on-screen message to confirm the current mode. Use this to manage your pet's behavior during exploration or when you need it to guard a location.
