Transform a Nautilus into an Ammonite

Using Nametags

Any nautilus variant can be converted to an ammonite using a nametag:

1. Find or capture a nautilus (standard, zombie, or coral zombie variants all work)

2. Use an anvil to rename a nametag to Ammonite

3. Apply the renamed nametag to the nautilus

4. The nautilus will change appearance to match a real-world ammonite

Visual Differences

Ammonites display a distinct spiral shell texture and coloration that differs from the standard nautilus look. The transformation is purely visual—the mob retains all standard nautilus behavior and mechanics.

Variants

You can convert any nautilus type:

• Standard nautilus → ammonite
• Zombie nautilus → zombie ammonite
• Coral zombie nautilus → coral zombie ammonite

Once named, the ammonite will not despawn, making it perfect for display in aquariums or as a permanent collection piece.
