Giant glow squids (Eponymous Squid variant) spawn naturally in ocean biomes at a rare rate.

Manual Spawning with Nametags

For guaranteed results, use a nametag on a glow squid:

1. Capture or find a glow squid in the ocean

2. Use an anvil to rename a nametag to either Eponymous Squid or Nanaimoteuthis

3. Apply the renamed nametag to the glow squid

4. The squid will transform into the giant variant

The giant variant retains the glow squid's bioluminescent properties and will not despawn once named. This method works in any biome and is the most reliable way to obtain a giant glow squid for your base or aquarium.

Tips

Keep the named giant squid in water—it needs to swim freely. Consider building an enclosed aquarium with adequate space for its larger size.
