How to Craft Alloy Blends for Brass, Bronze, Pewter and Steel

Why Blends Exist

Alloys are not mined. You combine base metals into a Raw Blend, then smelt or blast that blend into an ingot. The blends are Raw Brass Blend, Raw Bronze Blend, Raw Pewter Blend, Raw Steel Blend, Raw Duralumin Blend, Raw Electrum Blend, Raw Nicrosil Blend, and Raw Bendalloy Blend. Each is a crafting recipe, so gather the component metals first.

Building the Component Stock

Most alloys draw on Copper, Tin, Zinc, Lead, Iron, Silver, Gold, Cadmium, Chromium, and Aluminum in various combinations. Produce those base ingots first by smelting their raw ores, then keep a working stock of each. Brass and Bronze lean on Copper with Zinc or Tin; Pewter and Steel lean on Tin and Iron; the rarer alloys pull in Silver, Gold, Cadmium, Chromium, and Aluminum.

From Blend to Usable Metal

Smelt or blast each Raw Blend into its ingot: Brass Ingot, Bronze Ingot, Pewter Ingot, Steel Ingot, Duralumin Ingot, Electrum Ingot, Nicrosil Ingot, Bendalloy Ingot. From there, grind the ingot into flakes for vials, or store it as a block. If you plan to burn an alloy, the chain is always: base ingots, blend, alloy ingot, flakes, vial.
