How to Get and Use the Dragon Saddle

Getting the Saddle

The Dragon Saddle is a smithing_transform recipe. You need a Smithing Template, a base saddle-type item, and the Dragon Saddle result materials. Place the Smithing Template in the template slot of a smithing table, add the base item in the base slot, and the required material in the addition slot to produce the Dragon Saddle.

Using It on a Dragon

Spawn a Dragon with the Dragon Spawn Egg. Approach the dragon and use the Dragon Saddle on it the same way you would saddle a horse. Once saddled, mount the dragon to ride it. The Dragon Saddle is the only item in the mod that lets you control a Dragon.

Practical Tips

• Keep a spare Smithing Template in your inventory — smithing_transform recipes consume the template unless you are in a version that preserves it.
• The Dragon Spawn Egg is the fastest way to test the saddle without hunting for a wild dragon.
• If the dragon will not accept the saddle, make sure it is not already saddled and that you are close enough to interact.

Combine the Dragon Saddle with the Ender Flute if you want a ranged way to call or direct your mount during travel.
