What Upgrade Kits Do

Upgrade Kits are used in the aoa3:upgrade_kit recipe type to transform gear into stronger variants. Known kits include the Abyssal Upgrade Kit, Ancient Upgrade Kit, and Apoco Upgrade Kit. Each kit is tied to a theme, so match the kit to the weapon or armor you want to improve.

Running an Upgrade Kit Recipe

Place the base item and the matching Upgrade Kit into the upgrade_kit recipe layout. The output is the upgraded item. For example, Apoco-themed weapons such as the Apoco Rifle, Apoco Assault Rifle, and Apoco Shower belong to the Apoco Upgrade Kit family, while Ancient gear like the Ancient Bow and Ancient Discharger belongs to the Ancient Upgrade Kit family. Abyssal gear uses the Abyssal Upgrade Kit.

Sourcing Kits and Materials

Kits are obtained through progression, not basic crafting. Explore the Abyss for Abyssal Upgrade Kit, Ancient structures for Ancient Upgrade Kit, and Apoco content for Apoco Upgrade Kit. Pair each kit with the correct base item; using the wrong kit will not produce the upgraded result. Keep spare Armour Plating and AoA Essentia on hand if your upgrade chain requires them.
