What the Chum Bucket Does

The Chum Bucket is the one crafted item in Advanced Fishing. It is made with a crafting_shaped recipe, meaning you arrange ingredients in a specific pattern on a crafting table rather than tossing them in anywhere. The bucket is your tool for drawing fish toward your line, so it belongs in your fishing kit before you cast.

Crafting and Using It

Open a crafting table and lay out the ingredients in the shaped pattern the recipe calls for. The result is a single Chum Bucket. Keep it in your hotbar while fishing.

Once you have it, use the Chum Bucket at your fishing spot to concentrate fish in the area, then cast your rod into the chummed water. The payoff is the same set of catchable fish you process elsewhere: Cooked Crucian, Cooked Eel, Cooked Jellyfish, Cooked Koi, Cooked Pike, and Cooked Сatfish all come from fish you reel in, and the Chum Bucket is what improves those odds.

Pair it with a nearby campfire so you can cook your catch immediately. Bring the bucket on every trip — it is the only crafted item in the mod, so it is the one piece of gear worth preparing in advance.
