Choosing Between Chimney, Vent and Pump Blocks

Chimney blocks: the simple exhaust

Six blocks act as chimney heads: Cobblestone Chimney, Stone Chimney, Small Brick Chimney, Large Brick Chimney, Glass Chimney, and Metal Chimney. Place one at the top of a Duct run to let smoke out. They differ in appearance, not in role — any of them caps a Duct line.

Vents: exhaust for pumped systems

Metal Vent and Stone Vent are the output blocks used with pumps. Pair Stone Vent with Stone Pump and Metal Vent with Metal Pump. A Vent sits at the end of a Pump Pipe run or directly on a pump's output, giving smoke a place to escape.

Pumps and Pump Pipe: for distance

Metal Pump and Stone Pump move smoke through Pump Pipe. Use a pump when the exit is far from the heat source, or when you want to force smoke in a specific direction. Pump Pipe carries the smoke from the pump to the Vent or chimney block at the far end.

Duct: the universal link

Duct connects everything. Run Duct from the heat source to a chimney block for a basic build, or from the heat source to a pump for a pumped build. Duct also links pump to Pump Pipe and Pump Pipe to vent.

Quick selection

Short vertical exhaust: Duct plus any chimney block. Pumped exhaust: Duct, pump, Pump Pipe, vent. Match pump and vent material (Stone or Metal) for a clean build, and use Duct wherever two parts of the system need to meet.
