Optimize Water Clarity and Depth Appearance

Find Water Settings

In Shader Options, look for a water or liquid section. This controls underwater visibility, water color, and depth perception.

Adjust Water Transparency

Modify these values:

  • Water Clarity: Controls how far you can see underwater. Higher clarity reveals more of the ocean floor; lower values create murkier, deeper-looking water.
  • Water Color Tint: Adjusts the blue/green hue of water. Customize to match your world's aesthetic or create tropical vs. cold ocean feels.

Control Depth Effect

The shader's smart-depth system darkens water based on distance below the surface. Increase depth effect for dramatic underwater scenes; decrease it if you want consistent brightness at all depths.

Test in Different Waters

Visit oceans, rivers, and small pools to see how settings affect each. Oceans benefit from stronger depth effects, while rivers may look better with higher clarity. Adjust until underwater exploration feels natural and visually interesting without sacrificing visibility for survival tasks like mining or building.
