How to Craft and Place an AlTorch

Crafting the AlTorch

AlTorches are the basic light block of the mod and come in many material variants, including Oak AlTorch, Birch AlTorch, Acacia AlTorch, Jungle AlTorch, Dark Oak AlTorch, Crimson AlTorch, CobbleStone AlTorch, Mossy CobbleStone AlTorch, Mossy Stone Bricks AlTorch, BlackStone AlTorch, Nether Bricks AlTorch, End Stone AlTorch, End Stone Bricks AlTorch, Glass AlTorch, Ice AlTorch, Iron AlTorch, Gold AlTorch, Diamond AlTorch, Magenta Wool AlTorch, and Pink Wool AlTorch. Each is produced through a shaped crafting recipe using its matching base material, so pick the variant that matches the build you are lighting.

Placing and Using It

Place an AlTorch like a normal torch on a solid surface. The material name tells you what it is made of, not how bright it is, so you can match Oak AlTorch to a wooden cabin and Diamond AlTorch to a vault without changing the lighting behaviour. If you want a different silhouette in the same material, craft the matching Lamp, Standing Torch, or Fire Pit instead — for example CobbleStone Lamp, CobbleStone Standing Torch, or CobbleStone Fire Pit. Keep a stack of your chosen AlTorch in your hotbar while building so you can light corridors as you go rather than backtracking.
