Optimize Adaptive Outline for Low-End Computers
Reduce Computational Load
Adaptive Outline is already lightweight, but you can optimize further. In Shader Options, look for:
- Resolution Scale: Lower this setting to reduce the resolution at which outlines are calculated. This significantly improves frame rate with minimal visual loss.
- Outline Quality: Switch to a lower quality mode if available. This uses simpler edge detection, saving GPU resources.
Disable Unnecessary Features
If your computer struggles, disable any optional features like:
- Adaptive brightness calculations (if toggleable)
- Extra shadow detail on outlines
- Depth-based outline enhancement
Monitor Performance
Use F3 debug screen to watch frame rate while adjusting settings. Aim for stable performance in your typical play areas—caves, forests, and built structures. Start with minimum settings and gradually increase quality until you notice frame drops.
Alternative: Reduce Render Distance
If shader settings alone don't help, lower your render distance. Fewer chunks mean fewer outlines to calculate, freeing up GPU power for other tasks while keeping the cartoon effect sharp where you can see it.
