Make Outlines More Visible in Bright Daylight
Understand Adaptive Brightness
Adaptive Outline automatically darkens outlines in bright areas to prevent them from washing out. However, this can sometimes make them too subtle in full daylight.
Increase Outline Contrast
In Shader Options, adjust:
- Brightness Adaptation Strength: Reduce this value so outlines stay darker even in bright sunlight. Lower values mean outlines maintain more contrast regardless of light level.
- Minimum Outline Darkness: If available, increase this to set a floor for how light outlines can become. This ensures they're always somewhat visible.
- Outline Width: Increase thickness slightly—thicker lines are easier to see in bright conditions without adjusting other settings.
Test in Different Conditions
Move from shade into direct sunlight and observe. Outlines should remain clearly visible without looking harsh or unnatural. If they now look too dark in caves, you've overcorrected.
Fine-Tune Gradually
Make small adjustments and take screenshots in the same location at different times of day. This helps you find the sweet spot where outlines pop in daylight while remaining subtle in shadows, maintaining the cartoon aesthetic.
