Adjust Outline Thickness and Visibility
Access Shader Settings
Open your shader options menu (usually accessed through Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options, or by pressing a hotkey in-game). Look for the Adaptive Outline section.
Fine-Tune Outline Parameters
You'll find sliders controlling:
- Outline Width: Controls how thick the borders around blocks appear. Increase this if outlines feel too thin on your screen, or decrease if they overwhelm details.
- Edge Detection Sensitivity: Determines which surfaces get outlined. Higher values outline more subtle edges; lower values only outline major block boundaries.
- Brightness Threshold: Adjusts when outlines become visible based on ambient light. This affects how cartoon-like the effect feels.
Test Your Changes
Apply settings and move through different lighting conditions—bright daylight, caves, and twilight areas. The outlines should adapt smoothly without flickering or disappearing entirely. If you're unhappy with the result, adjust one slider at a time and observe the effect before changing another.
Performance Consideration
If your frame rate drops after increasing outline thickness, reduce the Edge Detection Sensitivity instead to maintain performance while keeping the cartoon effect visible.
