How to Craft Trapdoors and Gates in Absent by Design

Trapdoors

Trapdoors in this mod are made from their matching full block using the standard trapdoor recipe: six blocks in two rows of three. Supported trapdoors include Amethyst Trapdoor, Andesite Trapdoor, Basalt Trapdoor, Blackstone Brick Trapdoor, Blackstone Trapdoor, and Brick Trapdoor. Place them on the side of a block to open and close them like a vanilla trapdoor. Amethyst Trapdoor and Basalt Trapdoor are useful for decorative ceilings and floors where you want a matching palette.

Gates

Gates follow the vanilla fence gate recipe: two matching blocks with four sticks arranged in the standard gate pattern. Supported gates are Basalt Gate, Blackstone Brick Fence Gate, and Blackstone Gate. Use Basalt Gate for dark stone builds and Blackstone Gate or Blackstone Brick Fence Gate for Nether-themed fences and pens.

Pairing With Fences

Fences in this mod include Acacia Log Fence, Birch Log Fence, and Cherry Log Fence. Match a gate to a fence of the same material where possible, or use Blackstone Gate alongside Blackstone Brick Fence Gate for a layered look. Place gates between fence posts to create working entrances for animals or players.
