Optimize AALab Shaders for Your Hardware
Identify Your Hardware Tier
Before configuring, determine whether your PC is potato (very old), low-end, medium, or high-end. This helps you choose appropriate presets and settings.
Selecting a Hardware-Appropriate Preset
AALab Shaders includes presets specifically tuned for different hardware levels:
- Potato preset — Minimal visual effects, maximum performance. Use if your game struggles to maintain playable frame rates.
- Low preset — Light anti-aliasing and basic lighting improvements.
- Medium/High presets — Progressive increases in visual quality for better hardware.
Fine-Tuning Performance
If your chosen preset still causes lag:
1. Reduce anti-aliasing intensity first—it has the biggest performance impact.
2. Lower lighting quality or disable enhanced shadows.
3. Switch to a lighter preset if needed.
If performance is smooth but looks plain, gradually increase anti-aliasing or enable fantasy lighting. The goal is finding the sweet spot where your world looks good and runs smoothly on your system.
