Finding and Taming Horses

Explore the world to locate wild horses. Approach them carefully and use the appropriate item to tame them. Once tamed, you'll have a horse companion that you can ride and breed.

Preparing for Breeding

Gather food items that horses eat—typically hay, apples, or similar fodder. You'll need these to encourage breeding behavior. Have at least two tamed horses ready for breeding.

Breeding Your Horses

Feed the food items to two horses in close proximity. When they're both well-fed and nearby, they'll enter breeding mode and produce a foal. The baby horse will inherit traits from both parents, including coat color and patterns.

Discovering Coat Variations

The mod features realistic horse genetics, meaning different parent combinations produce different offspring appearances. Experiment by breeding horses with different coat colors and patterns to discover new combinations. Keep track of which pairings produce your favorite results.

Building Your Herd

As you breed more horses, you'll develop a unique herd with special patterns and colors. Create a ranch area with fencing and shelter for your horses. Over time, selective breeding lets you establish a distinctive group of companions with traits you've carefully cultivated.
